Michael Gretton
A key Vermillion goal is to work with schools to promote better sustainability literacy and workplace-relevant education. Michael is uniquely positioned to help. For over 20 years, he's coordinated educational programs for the Southern Alberta Heritage Language Association, which represents 38 international languages. In this role, Michael works with diverse education, government, business and community stakeholders to promote language awareness for Alberta students.
Another key goal is to help Calgary's ‘people, planet and prosperity’ stakeholders connect and cooperate in constructive ways. Over two decades, Michael has supported dozens of local community groups. Notably for us, he promoted both CSR and the United Nations Global Compact in his role as President of the Calgary branch of the United Nations Association in Canada. He's also served as Board Chair of GlobalFest and Human Rights Forum. And because eradicating local and global poverty is one of his passions, he's a board member of Vibrant Communities Calgary and the Calgary Group Leader with RESULTS Canada. He might be an overachiever; Michael has been awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his substantial volunteer contributions.
